Claire Mellier

I am a facilitator, researcher and project manager working to bring about change for sustainable development.

Prior to becoming freelance consultant in 2013, I worked for 10 years for The Environment Council, a stakeholder and community engagement charity in London. I held different roles within the organisation and my responsibilities included: engagement process design, facilitation, training delivery, project management and research.

I came to the UK in 2004 after working in France for an environmental NGO as a campaigner and for a waste company in Business Development.

In 1996, I graduated from Sciences Po Bordeaux, where I studied politics, law and economics. I pursued my studies with a Master’s degree in Environmental Communication in 2000 in Paris.

Despite my qualifications, it was hard to get a fulfilling job in France, especially in the field I was interested in: stakeholder and community engagement in sustainability. Participative approaches in environmental decision making were not very popular in France in the early 2000’s, and I felt the UK was ahead of the game on these issues.

Leaving France and coming to London was one of the best decisions of my life, not only on a professional level, but on a personal level too.

There is a deep sense of possibility in the UK that I find extremely enlivening and fulfilling.

This very open, supportive and nurturing environment also contributed to my yogic path. I started practising Yoga in 2005, and I became a Yoga teacher in 2011.
